History of Al Taqaddum
Camp Al Taqaddun - Formerly known as Camp Ridgeway. An order issued on March 25, 2004, by I MEF's commanding general, directed that all base names be changed immediately. As a result, and to connect with local communities, the new camps names were associated with the local and urban or geographical areas that they were near. The order came on the heels of I MEF officially taking over the AL Anbar province from the Armys 82nd Airborne Division on March 24, 2004. In addition, the order stated that in "the spirit of the Marine Corps, these bases will no longer be refered to as FOBs. Instead they will be refered to as camps".

Colleagues,
I was at TQ in 2004 for around six months. Does anyone remember 'Super Dave'. He was a civilian contractor who built a swimming pool and invited the military over for a 3/2 beer. He had AC too. This was something out of apocalypse now. Am I nuts or does anyone remember this cat?
